MBAIf there were one degree out there that you could do almost anything with, a degree in business administration would probably be it. This degree is so versatile that the possibilities are nearly limitless.

One of the best things about a business administration degree is that it is one of the easiest degrees to get while going to school online. Online universities are the wave of the future for a number of reasons. They offer a lot of flexibility, especially for those who are already trying to balance work and family. You can do the work at three in the morning if that’s when you have the time. They are usually less expensive since they don’t have the same operating costs associated with them that traditional universities do. And they usually have less stringent admission requirements. Often students who come from non-traditional circumstances have difficulty getting accepted to traditional universities, but online universities are often more willing to work with the student.

There are a few different types of business administration degree programs depending upon how far you want to go. You could just get a certificate, which requires fewer classes, but usually doesn’t carry the same benefits as a business administration degree. There are Associate Degree programs, which are two years long, and they are quite popular, but again they don’t always carry the same weight with employers that higher degrees do.

The minimum standard for most employers is a Bachelor level business administration degree. This is a four-year degree and provides an excellent foundation for future learning. Higher degrees are available.  There is a Masters level business administration degree, also known as an M.B.A and there is also a Doctorates degree as well. The time to complete these degrees varies based on the options that the student chooses and the schools requirements, but can be anywhere from an extra 18 months for an M.B.A up to an extra four years for a Ph.D.

What you choose to do with your business administration degree can vary greatly. You could run your own business, you could be a consultant for other business owners, or you could even teach business related courses to others. The average salary that you could obtain with your business administration degree will vary widely as well depending upon the direction you choose to go with it, but someone with an Associate’s degree can expect 35-40 thousand dollars annually, while someone with an M.B.A has the potential to earn a six figure income.

If you like the fast paced business world, and you want to make a respectable income, then a business administration degree just might be for you.
